The science of learning doesn't just help some students.
It helps every student.
Everywhere.
I've been an educator for over 20 years in diverse educational environments on four continents ranging from well-resourced, tier 1 international schools to classrooms with no electricity or text books. What I discovered is that understanding the science of human cognition equips educators to respond far more effectively to the needs of all students, whatever their individual circumstances.

I work with schools worldwide to improve student outcomes using 3 key approaches.

Build a
coaching program
Equip teachers with evidence-led skills that have an immediate, measurable impact on student learning.

Optimize
professional learning
Forge a shared understanding of excellent instruction that empowers teachers to improve student outcomes.

Leverage
cognitive science
Upskill your school leadership and faculty on the science of learning to boost student success.
INSTRUCTIONAL PHILOSOPHY
When educators become more skilled,
students become more successful.
For some, science is cold and clinical. To me, it is a deeply human endeavor that allows us to know ourselves and the world, to appreciate its deeper levels of beauty, and to discover and create.
Science makes sense of how the world works — and how learning happens. It challenges our assumptions and reveals the tangible outcomes of our efforts, pushing us to become ever more effective educators.

And it's not just students who benefit. Teachers, too, grow faster when professional learning is evidence-led. They gain powerful new understandings and instructional approaches that produce better student outcomes, which is what energizes every educator!

Bertrand Russell said it best: “Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver ... the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own."

The difference is in the science
There are lots of approaches to instruction that look good in photos or are fun in the classroom, but if they don't drive measurable positive outcomes, they're a disservice to students. Open Windows' approach to professional learning is based in a deep commitment to ensuring student success.
